Houston On the surface, Houston may seem like the cheese capital of the world, with all thecover bands that populate the Richmond strip. However, if you look real hard, you willfind that there are several good venues in town that support original music, sponsoringlocal, regional, and even national acts. Here is a list of some of the clubs that I havebeen to that are known for great live music: UrbanArt Bar, 112 Milam, Downtown Houston Numbers, 300 Westheimer, Montrose area FabulousSatellite Lounge, 3616 Washington Ave., Heights Rockefellers, 3620 Washington Ave., Heights Emo's Alternative Lounge, 2700 Albany St.,Houston Aerial Theater at BayouPlace, Downtown Houston In each case, I've created links to the venue's web site or the Ticketmaster schedule for the venue. Occasionally bands will come to MusicHall (810 Bagby, Downtown) and there are always the big acts that come to TheSummit (10 Greenway Plaza, I-59 and Buffalo Speedway) and CynthiaWoods Pavilion (Woodlands). If there is a local joint that you know of that I shouldmention here, please let me know at cindy@onthatnote.com. Other good sources for local information are: Space City Rock - offers a much more comprehensive venue listing.Public News - the Premier Houston Entertainmentrag. Houston Press - local music and restaurantreview paper. On That Note, I'm outta here...... C |
