Free For All, The Last Temptation of Superego Party, Hole in the Wall
Sunday, March 18

The Free For All is a Sunday night, weekly music showcase that has been coordinated by Paul Minor and his band Superego for 6 1/2 years. Traditionally, the last blowout of SXSW is held with local musicians playing covers of their favorite acts. This year, the theme was The Band's "Last Waltz" with members of the Conrads, Lil Capn Travis, Damnations, Stingers, Superego and solo performers Darin Murphy, Trish Murphy, Beaver Nelson, and Walter Tragert all performing music from the legengary music epic. As has been the case throughout the Free For All's history, celebrity performances and sightings were in full force, with Ivan Neville (son of Aaron) performing on keyboards and actor Dennis Quaid stopping to catch a few acts.

This was the last FFA that will be hosted by Minor, who created this Austin performance treat. Minor and crew will be back to play as guests on a semi-regular basis when the new hosts Telray will take over the reins. The capacity crowd cheered on Minor throughout the evening, recognizing his efforts in promoting the local Austin music scene.
